I got a 1201 mic kit (705 mic) for Christmas and it too was sans the "orange
dot".  It's an "easy fix" though with some Testors model paints.

  I noticed the same thing.  My VI+ is still the orange dot.
  (Maybe they changed it to black in mourning for their competition once the
Orion comes out...)
