[TenTec] RIT malfunction

I have a RIT REC on my Omni Plus that apparently has suffered some type of
malfunction. Basically when the RIT is turned on the signal that I am
monitoring just disappears and even with the RIT adjusted to both sides of
the signal nothing is heard. Strange behavior. I am not a tech just a button
pusher so I don't know where to start looking in the radio. Maybe get some
guidance before a fifth trip to TENTEC,HI.
