Re- Bills post: Have you ever wondered why the
old tube type rigs has so much better "Presence"?
He is correct. The tube type rigs had 10 watts or better
audio output, transformer coupled to a large, inefficient
but high quality speaker. Cost and size  of gear has reduced
receiver audio to the present stage of very low fidelity.
