[TenTec] Corsair Filter Question

The Corsair (I) originally shipped with a 4 pole filter. There was a
promotion for awhile in which the 4 pole filter was replaced with an 8 pole
one. However, this was not done at the factory but at the dealership --
back in the days when there were dealers. If an amateur chose to do the
swap himself, there was a deposit of a nominal amount involved, as the 4
pole filters were eventually sent back to Ten Tec.

When I worked at the (now long defunct) Westech Electronics, I can remember
swapping quite a few filters -- at least 2 dozen. And I can remember one
amateur who insisted on paying the deposit (and he got it back, too) because
he didn't want us to open the box -- his reasoning was that if he was
spending that kind of money on a Corsair, he got to be the one to open the
box and open up the rig!

The Corsair II may have come with the 8 pole first IF filter, but the
Corsair I did not. I added the 8 pole filter to my Corsair and I made a
very noticeable improvement. The selectivity is razor sharp and the PBT
performance improves as well.
