Both the VI and VI+ reports show risetimes in the 2.0 - 2.5 ms range. 
According to the QST reviews, both make statements to the effect that
this is "exceptional" or "excellent" keying waveshape.  Perhaps the
understanding of what is exceptional has changed because I note that Tom
Rauch, W8JI is saying 4-5 ms is considered the correct risetime.  Earl,
K6SE, says the ARRL Labs state it should be 5 ms, but I haven't been able
to find that yet.  Oh well - as I commented in my offline note to you -
wouldn't it be great to have a contest where the exchange was the rig in
use?  That way we could all hear the differences on the air for each of
them!

I'm wondering what we'll all find to obsess about next.
