[TenTec] Pegasus or Jupiter

Bob,

In all the important details, the Jupiter and the Pegasus are the same
receiver and transmitter. I did discover that when you do a frequency scan
on the Jupiter in front panel mode, the firmware behaves a little
differently allowing the Jupiter to have a faster scan - if you scan the
Pegasus too fast, the AGC kicks in and all you see are sawteeth. When the
Jupiter is scanning in front panel mode, the software disables the AGC so
you get a better image of the signals - this can't be done with the Pegasus.

If you plan on always using a computer to operate the radio, I don't think
there's any advantage to the Jupiter. However, not having a front panel
means that if I want to take my Pegasus out of the shack, I have to drag
along a computer. I wouldn't have to do that if I had a Jupiter.

73,
Mark

plan on using the rig at the QTH with a computer, is there any reason to buy
the Jupiter instead of the Pegasus, except for $300 additional cost of the
Jupiter?
