It works, though there may be a half dB of resistive loss, depending on
the tuning. Might even be a bit more. I have had no problems using
insulated 12 gauge stranded house wire for an inverted V in Iowa now for
several years.

The G5RV still needs a bit of tuning so I prefer a simple dipole with
balanced feed line all the way to the balanced tuner.
