[TenTec] TenTec popularity in Japan?

I visited the Tokyo Hamfair in 1997.  Did not see any TenTec
but Collins, Drake and Signal One rigs were available. A
75S3C was going for 150K yen, KWM-2 for about 200K yen.
Drakes were going for similiar prices.  The only US company
I remember seeing was US Tower. They had a very impressive
display at the show.  There was a big flea market too.  Plenty
of parts for HF amps, etc. Also, there were several vendors and
clubs in the flea market selling and displaying vintage military
radio gear, mostly US.
