Here's one thing to consider: overall visibility.

I've had quite a bit of experience over the years with small LCD screens, both
color and monochrome.  To date, even the best color screens aren't as visible in
varying light levels and viewing angles as any mono screen I've used.

Yes, the mono screen certainly isn't as pretty as the color, but it doesn't
become invisible in bright sunlight, either.

gentleman, i don't quite understand what's all the clamor over the display,
personally

i think the monochrome display looks more like a radio and the color reminds me 

of a cartoon in the sunday paper
