Cosmetics aren't everything, and from what I saw in terms of capabilities, I
think the Orion will compete just fine.

Not just Scott but all of the TenTec staff I talked to were very
enthusiastic.

Sorry I'm not more forthcoming right now, but we just got back from a 5 hour
drive, I'm beat, & I'm wading through 200+ messages here in the email... and
150+ of them want me to buy stocks on line, buy Viagra on line, look at
dirty pictures on line...

It is either going to live or die on performance. It's price ($3300)
puts it at the very top end of the amateur market and the display
doesn't begin to compare with the new color ones. Having said that, if
the radio outperforms everything else on the market, then it will be
another winner from TT.

Thanks, Don, for that report.

Talking to friends who have ICOM radios, they can't
believe the display on the Orion could be anything but
color. I hope there are technical benefits which will
make that concept sell. Especially since the Orion
will cost several hundred dollars more than the most
expensive 756.

I'll be waiting to see what the final result is. I
think the hope is that the Orion will have many
features that will set it apart.
