[TenTec] OMNI V problem

Hi all
My Omni V has developed a problem. When first turned on it works fine, but after 10 - 15 min signals become unreadable. The sound is like bubbling water almost as if the tuning knob was being wiggled like a hip-hop dj rotates a record. If I had to guess, I would say it sounds like a PLL is not quite locking.
I will look into it further before sending it south to TT for a 2 week vacation but I'm hoping this will strike a chord with somebody who had the same problem and found it was somethig simple like "reset plug P45 on jack C45" or something like that.
