Hi All

The more I use my Argonaut V, the more I like it. It has a very quite
receiver, I feel it is quitter then my other Ten-Tec rigs. My old Triton IV
Digital comes to mind when I think of Quitter Receivers. The Argonaut V is
just as quite or even a little quitter.

Today Virgil, K8VB came to my qth for a visit and I was telling him how
quite the Argonaut V receiver is. I had a S-5 QRN level at the time and I
was on 7.040 MHz. An QRP station came up and was at the S-5 noise level.
Here is what I did and the QRN or frying pan noise, went down to a level
that is was not of any importance.

1. Bring the filter down to 500 Hz.

2. Zero beat the station.

3. I then move the filter down to 200 Hz, some may not need to or want to
do this, however the frying pan noise is gone and the CW note is in the
clear with the S-Meter showing around S-5. Virgil was impressed and said he
can not do that with his Kenwood TS-450 with all his filters or other noise
reduction buttons.

I will add this, it came off the reflector today>>>>I would very much like
to see some noise reduction. Something that
would ease the frying pan a little! I don't have this type of noise
all the time, but when I do...<<<<<I don't know how Ten-Tec did this noise
reduction, but it works. I am a CW NUT and have started using headphones,
with the phones the noise reduction is more dramatic because I can turn down
the volume more.

All in all, I am very pleased with the Argonaut V, it is an large
improvement over my Argo 556 and every other QRP rig I have owned. I for
one can not say enough good about it.

Now I look forward to the day I can order the Orion, which will be in a year
or two. If the Orion is as big of improvement over the Omni VI Plus that I
sold I will be in CW heaven.

More updates will come as I find them.
