Unlike me, some hams can actually use their TenTec rigs without a mike
plugged in!
My brother, KD7GT, bought an Omni-D from a 9-lander. The PTO had gotten
stiff and the was the old timers excuse to buy a VI(+ maybe). Since he then
had the D doing nothing he decided it should be sold to someone but really
needed to be repaired first. The D made a pilgrimage to its birth place for
a bit of southern hospitality and came back felling much better. My brother
went to check it out, the old timer allowed that he could only assume the
transmit audio worked since he didn't have a microphone to plug into
anything. Seems that the OM was quite addicted to that original digital
mode and could sustain over 60wpm in a rag chew. No one has heard me
running that speed and I doubt they ever will!
