Pete,
I just read the warning in the Orion user manual against inserting a mono
plug in the headphone jack .
Please DO NOT PLUG A MONO
PHONE PLUG, (two-circuit) INTO
ORION's FRONT PANEL PH JACK....
A mono plug will short-circuit one of the
two audio channels, causing damage to
the radio.
A resistor in the 100 ~ 220 ohm range in each leg of the stereo headphone
jack would protect the audio output stage in the event of an accidental
short. The IC-756Pro2 uses a pair of 180 ohm resistors. The engineering term
for this is "cheap insurance".

Hi: The speaker, singular, takes a standard 1/4" telephone plug.
One key jack is a standard telephone jack just to the right of the headphone
jack on the front panel, the other is a 1/8" stereo jack on the back. Both
jacks are wired tip/dit; ring/dah; and body ground.
The Phone jack is next to the mike jack, just to the left of the key jack.
There was a label warning on the front, Stereo headphones only. MONO phones
will short the two audio amps together and result in failure. The panoramic
recieve is great, by the way.
And to answer an unasked question, the automatic tuner is very fast and
extremely quiet. No memories, but it's so fast you really don't need
memories.
Congratulations on the purchase. It's by far the best rig I have ever had
here, and I have had TOL line rigs from YaKenCom. Well worth the purchase
price!
