Not a gremlin, but rather a virus called bugbear.  It's not on your 
machine, Bob, but on the machine of someone who has communicated with you 
by e-mail.  There are two tip-offs:

The sender's address combines your username with an ISP that isn't yours.
The message text is truncated.

The virus is contained in the attachment to this message.  Don't open it.
