Well, let's imagine a casual contester who spends 5 to 15 hours in a
contest. He is not trying to win the contest but may want to hear as many
stations as possible , as clear and clean as possible. Jumping around the
bands for multipliers may not be important for this operator.He wants the
best receiver possible for a given budget but does not really need many
extras. (this is not exactly like but something like my operating style)
I can easily see such a person considering the Orion and 100 watt loaded K2
as possible rigs for casual contesting. T
-The Orion appears to give the best *combination of dynamic range, filters
and flexibility and all the options look like a lot of fun.
_The 100 watt K2 has excellent dynamic range, is easier to use but has less
flexibility.
Other rigs to consider include the latest 1000 .... Pros, and used Omnis
For the casual contester the choice between a K2 or Orion might come down
to the difference between what he * wants vrs. what he *needs <g>
