Good suggestions about the 505 hum problems.   Another observation, if this
is an early production 505, or its power supply, it is well beyond the years
that electrolytic cap normal life might be expected to last.  As they dry
out, the hum level will go up.

However, part of your symptoms do sound like there might be an RF in the
shack issue, so use a dummy load and check for hum with nearby receiver, or
use a dipole.
