Best I've found for duct tape gunk is ethyl alcohol; will not go after
vinyl, but take care if it wants to migrate into a nick or tear (it may well
go after the vinyl adhesive if allowed to soak in.) Also generally good on
most surfaces for things that a water based solvent won't touch. Leaves
fairly fast with no inherent residue. I always test a small patch first, and
keep an eye on it as you go. Do take particular care around any screened
surfaces, particulary older ones or any that are on a translucent medium,
like some of the old Heath QRP rig dials; some inks have bases that it will
go after. I have cleaned T*T 580 & early Omni faces with it, and those inks
have proven to be relatively impervious to it (after Windex to get the DNA
off - hi.)

There was a thread going a while back (~3-4 mos.) abt source for the vinyl;
an archive search might shed some light there.
