Well, all's fair in love and war. Contesting is a variation of war.  So using a computer to log Q's, keep score, send CQ, and even transmit the exchange is not cheating - any more than that big pot of black coffee just down from the operating position is cheating. 

Coffee and logging computers are both about preserving your body and keeping your mind alert so you can operate longer and make more QSO's in the alloted time. Nor is there anything wrong with the logging computer print out the log after the contest. 

Now - letting the computer make contacts while you, er, pursue other interests, would be cheating. As well as a violation of the rules unless you can figure out a way to get that box of parts a license.
