[TenTec] T-kit 13xx series (esp. 1340) opinions?

I just recently sold my T-Kit 1340, so I can't put it up for evaluations.
However, I would like to comment on some of its good and bad features. I can
only compare it with the Small Wonders kits which I've built.

The T-Kit has a hot receiver, puts out a hefty signal of about 3-4 watts
(depending on supply voltage), and is ruggedly packaged in a hefty, black
steel case. The construction manual is easy to understand. It could use a
digital dial or tuning with more bandspread.

The Small Wonders series CW kits seem to have a little better selectivity
and are easier to build, although with a less elaborate construction manual.

Both Ten-Tec and Small Wonders support their products well, so you can't go
wrong with either.

Just my humble opinions......

but I would like to hear pros & cons on the 13xx T-Kits, especially the
1340, including comparisons to competitive products such as the Red Hot
series, Small Wonder Labs SWs, MFJ Cub, OHR, etc. Also, I would like to see
if anyone has a 13xx (pref. 1340) they would allow to be "evaluated" -- or I
might even consider purchase of either a built, partially built, or unbuilt
unit if the price is right. (There is a motive to my madness -- e-mail me
offline if you want details. But just remember, curiosity killed the cat, HI
HI!!!)
