Well now Keith, Many of us agree with you, but few of
us have the space for 9 separate antennas on HF. Add
the 6 meter and 2 meter antennas and space becomes
real short real fast. Two or three multi band doublets
with open/twin leed feeders gives us some gain on the
higher bands and total world coverage at the flip of a
switch. These do need a tuner though so you will never
know how well they work.
