Correction to my previous post, re, SSB mode and
the -5 unit in the system. Not sure that "hot switching"
can be a problem in the SSB mode, but if so, my
solution,

I had written:

I have not tried this connection. My SSB solution then,

My "fix" now is to use my CW st. key as my PTT switch
when operating in the SSB mode, hi. Works fine, and
avoids any possibility of hot switching somehow using
SSB mode. This works because my CW key is connected
directrly (well through a diode) to the Key 1 terminal.

Another solution is to use Ameritron's suggestion of just
leaving the Key 1 input terminal to the -5 grounded all the time.

I have used the -5 at legal limit power on both CW and SSB,
works fine. You must keep the open frame relay contacts
clean, otherwise rcv signals can grow weaker. Not much
rcv current through those open frame contacts, hi.
