[TenTec] field day from hell

As I seem to recall, Field Day was an exercise to check amateur readiness in
the event of an emergency. Years latter it has become a contest.

You mention computers and what they do. Here's my idea of the ideal
computer control station:

At the correct time the software will initialize the radio, scan the bands
for activity, call CQ in the proper modes and frequencies, answer any CQ's
from another computer, make the contacts, confirm the contacts, log the
contacts and run the contest for the allowed contest period. All while I
sleep and work in the comfort of my air conditioned, mosquito free abode.
When I return to the station, all is secure, my contest log is tallied, and
I'm advised of the total gigantic number of points accumulated. And too it
will have filed the necessary reports with the required organizations to
assure I get credit for my activities.

All in the days work of a computer.
