This is not necessarily true. I have repaired several
rigs that would make full on 20 meters but dropped off
on the higher bands and sometimes on the lower bands
as well. Replacing the finals cured the problem. I not
sure exactly how this happens, but since bi-polar RF
power transistors use multi-emitters to achieve
broad-banding, I assumed some of the emitter junctions
were destroyed by static.
