[TenTec] Radio Shack 25 amp switching supply?

Outside of general curiousity, I wouldn't be too concerned with who makes
the switching supply so long as the OEM who sells it (Ten Tec in this case)
gives you (the buyer) a warranty.
And it's not like this is anything new under the sun, folks. Lots of
companies do the same thing. For example, Kenwood once sold an "alternate"
non-matching 20A PS for the TS-430 & 440, which was nothing more than the
Astron RS-20 with Kenwood's name on it and the on/off switch on the other
side of the front panel. (Yes, I'm sure -- I sold them at the time, and I
checked)

Subject: [TenTec] Radio Shack 25 amp switching supply?
Hi Paul, and the bunch:
Sorry to burst anyone's bubble about the power supplies "made by Ten
Tec."
When I had some problems with a switch on one of my two "Ten Tec"
power supplies, I talked with the guys in Sevierville to ask if they could
send me a replacement. I was told that indeed, anything which bore the TT
label they guaranteed and warranted. However, I was told quite kindly that
they did not make those two power supplies themselves. Instead, they buy
them
from a different manufacturer, put the TT label on them, and sell them
under
the TT name. They offered to write to the manufacturer to see if an
alternate
switch would be available. Or I could return the PS to TT for a
replacement.
Instead, I chose to examine the switch myself, discovered it had been
installed improperly, and righted it. Working fine ever since then. A lot
cheaper than shipping from Oklahoma City to Sevierville.
I do not know which TT power supplies you all are talking about,
but
the two I have apparently were made elsewhere. That's OK with me. I'd
rather
have a TT label on things with their backup than the same equipment bought
elsewhere. I suggest you verify this for yourselves. My 72 year old brain
has
been known to scramble data meant to keep separated.
