[TenTec] 238A rotary switch knobs

I have an older 238 tuner and the knobs were just fine for several
years. It became necessary to replace the elastic dial cord and when I
put everything back together I over tightened one of the knobs and it
cracked!

I was able to repair the knob by taking a turn of solid wire around the
core of the knob that goes over the shaft. I tightened the solid wire
by twisting the end and then soldered the twisted end and then tucked it
inside the knob. So far my repair has held. A short piece of metal
tubing (if you can find the correct diameter) over the inside of the
knob for reinforcement would probably be an even better solution.

Stronger material and/or knobs with two set screws would be an even
more elegant solution.
