[TenTec] Omni tx noise

It sounds as if the square wave clock sig. is getting into your tx audio.  
I'd first try txing a carrier by hitting the tune button and see if you 
still hear it (btw having a second rx in the shack will speed things up).  
Next I'd try txing in lsb or usb and turn the mic gain up and down and see 
if the noise level varies.  this may help you figure out where it's coming 
into the audio (or if not, somewhere else).  You could try checking to make 
sure your mic line is grounded.  maybe just unplugging the mic and plugging 
it back in again would help.  next try wrapping the mic cord in some ferrite 
chokes (this is a bandaid fix however) at the plug & see if that attenuates 
the pickup.  If you have an intermittent ground at the mic plug you might 
find it by simply wiggling the cord at the plug.  After exhausting all the 
easy options (I always try the easy stuff first) you might begin 
investigating the possibility of a gounding open inside the rig (I'm 
assuming you have the cabinet and p.s. adequately grounded).  It may be that 
some shielding inside isn't grounded.  My trouble shooting ability is pretty 
poor--at this point I'd call up Paul Clinton at the service dept. to get 
some ideas before tearing in--the only reason I'm writing you is because it 
doesn't seem like anyone else has.  I hope you hear from the real experts.  
I'm sure it will turn out to be an easy fix.
