[TenTec] New and Coming 60 meter channels

Hi,

Just down loaded and read the FCC Report and Order, why?
Because I could not understand the ARRL report version
which said the power we could use on those bands was
50 watts with reference to a 0dB gain antenna(1/2 wave
dipole). None of that made any sense to me as a 1/2
wave dipole has a bit of gain over an isotropic (2.1 dB
or some such).

However, the FCC says that we must use ONLY upper
sideband (no CW), no more than 2.8 kHz bandwidth,
and no more than 50 watts effective radiated power!

So, if you have a 10 dB gain antenna (of which there
won't be many at 60 meters) your transmitter can
only feed it 5 watts, as that plus 10 dB of antenna gain
is the allowed 50 watts erp. The frequencies, which
we will have to use 30 days AFTER the FCC posts the
changes to the Federal Register will be 5332, 5348,
5368, 5373, and 5405 kHz--at 60 meters.

Another band to use with the Argo V and Orion later
this Summer or Fall, whenever the 30 days might
begin following the necessary formal posting by the
FCC.

73, Jim KH7M
