What I have is a homebrew 35 amp power supply that feeds (currently) 2 hf
rigs and one uhf/vhf rig.
I have installed a deep cycle lead acid battery that feeds the rigs
directly, and have a blocking diode mounted on a heat sink between the b+
lead out of the power supply to the battery. The diode is a stud mount 50
amp garnered out of the junk box.
Since there is a small amt of voltage drop across the blocking diode, I have
kicked up the power supply to just a tad over 14 vdc at the power supply
output to insure about 13.8 vdc across the battery's terminals.
This is pretty common on repeater power supplies.
