First, the IC-7800 is likely to be a beautiful rig, perfect for those who see more value in it than the cost (Thank you, Adam Smith). Maybe it will even have the kind of "Love-it" performance that the 765 can still evoke. Likewise, the Orion is a beautiful rig, and there are many who would buy an Orion before the 7800, even at the same price. So this is not about defending one or pushing another.
Initially much was said about the four DSP processors on the 7800. One is for each RX, one for the transmitter, and one for the display (GRINS).
On the Orion: do the two processors parallel or co-process, or do they have discrete functions? Does anyone know now the DSP resources are allocated on the Orion? It would seem that parallel processing of some sort, if done on the Orion, might produce superior results to a single, dedicated 32-bit processor on each RX as indicated on the 7800.
Just curious how the DSP hardware resources are allocated on the Orion. Look forward to the comments.
