Well, I guess maybe I have to dissent.  Most of the spam I get comes as a 
result of my being on a couple of ham-related alias servers -- I won't name 
names, but I know several people who have actually dropped their ARRL 
aliases because of spam.  When you think about it, it's easy enough for a 
spam merchant to run every possible call-sign against an alias server, and 
keep the ones that aren't bounced "user unknown" as good addresses.

As for the personal data, is there anything that says you have to tell them 
the truth?
