If you change the sidetone/spot pitch more than about 100Hz from its
default of 670Hz,  you begin to notice some attenuation from the narrow
filters -- moreso on the 250 than the 500Hz filter.  Aha!  Here's why:

*** You got it correct Earl - fun to learn new things about the new rig. I
found that if you set the side tone pitch to 800 Hz that the NR now pulls
the signal out of the mud just like the NR on the Omni VI+ when the pitch is
set correctly. With 800 Hz side tone and the filter adjustment set correctly
I go from 3 KHz to 100 Hz with barely noticeable movement of the S meter.

Just worked 4W3DX - East Timor - on 20 CW - The Orion is really something.
Did an A/B with my Omni VI+ and what a difference. Could copy him on the
Omni but he was way much stronger on the Orion! Love it!!
