I love posts like this ... helps me to understand how urban legions
get their mysterious beginnings ... "substantial funding" ... WOW.

Hey ... is it true that TenTec is really owned by Yaesu too? B-)
Makes as much sense as some of the other statements on here. B-(

Or that the top ten contest stations all receive "substantial funding"
to use anything other than TenTec gear on their desks ... Yea, let's
start any rumor to justify whatever viewpoint we want.

Naaa, instead let's go back to some actual points of collected data.

NCJ did two rather detailed surveys on "what contesters use and
why" ... as to antennas, rigs, etc. TT never made it any where near
the top of the ranks ... <Not mere opinion, go read the articles, and
see for yourself, then flame away.> Repeated Low Band Monitor <a
primary 160/80/40 magazine> indicated a similar trend, tho TenTec
was ranked much higher than expected, which is not surprising as to
owners who want the very best as to ultimate receiver performance.

That said, once the Orion becomes a stable platform, my prediction
is that there could be a major shift as to "what's on YOUR desk" with
the top competitors. In theory, it's all there, the execution is coming ...

<As in how many NASCAR drivers would run with an engine that
stops mid-race and has to be restarted ...? Read the posts on here>

By spring, after a full season of HD contesting with the Orion, and with the
key capability to make any performance improvements/corrections via
software updates ... the Orion could be quite the 'desk top' icon of choice!

I am looking forward to such an opportunity ...
