Today while ragchewing, my Orion quit transmitting. The keyer still
generated sidetone, but the ALC led did not light, and there was no power
output. It acted just as it did when I was having trouble getting QSK
loop 1 to work with my Centurion
(http://dayton.akorn.net/pipermail/tentec/2003-November/039422.html), but
the Centurion was not on, although it was in the circuit. Simply
recycling the power switch restored normal operation.
In the Orion list, a few operators reported a similar occurance during SS.
See:
http://dayton.akorn.net/pipermail/orion/2003-November/000020.html - "On at
least one occasion I looked up to see no output, I quickly turned the
Orion off and back on and it was back to normal.."
http://dayton.akorn.net/pipermail/orion/2003-November/000024.html - "I've
also had a problem with SSB TX power dropping to zero/no modulation from
time to time. Cycling power on and off seems to cure. The rig keys OK,
just no output power. Double checked foot switch and mic, they seem to be
fine."
If this happens to you, I'd be curious to know if you had your QSK loop
enabled, and which one (i.e., ANT1 or ANT2) you were using.
