The next planet after Jupiter is Saturn, but Sevierville's neighbor,
Smyrna has that one sewed up, so Uranus is correct. Wonder what the Neptune
and Pluto will look like?

Subject: [TenTec] Ad in AES Catalog...

With anticipation, I opened the newest AES catalog, knowing it would be
the
same old stuff with higher prices, and by darn if there wasn't a 2 page
inside
cover ad for the high zoot IC-7800. This was the first time I'd actually
taken the time to look at the rig, and it's the busiest looking thing I've
ever seen in ANY kind of electronic gear.
About 1330 today, I worked a JA who was using one, and with the lousy
band
condx, there wasn't much to say except I logged him. Anyway, I pulled out
the
catalog again to give the ad a real close inspection, and that sucker has
125!
controls on the front panel. Unless I've counted incorrectly, my Orion is a
veritable desert at only 72 controls on the front panel.
I'm sure the 7800 is a wonderful platform, but where does this stuff
stop? Yaesu will soon have their DX 9,000,000 out, so what happens next?
The
Ten Tec Uranus? I'll happily keep my Orion, thank you. What they need is a
built-in mouse connection and an on-display world map so that all you had to
do was point at a part of the world, and it would automatically change to a
frequency where the DX you wanted was on the air. I'm gonna have to polish
up
my crystal ball, I guess. n5xm
