Bob (or others), do the traffic nets (NTS) in CW still exist?
I thought PR would have eliminated them.
I used to be quite active in the 60's - also NCS for local and reginal nets.
Callsign back then was WA5ETA.
When I moved to Germany in 1971, I lost touch with NTS.

W9OY asks a valid question. My very personal opinion, as a die hard dx
hound is no, I have no need for qsk. As a contest op I have little need for
qsk mainly because I do not ever employ an endless cq loop. A vast majority
of dxing and contest transmissions are less than five seconds in length. I
leave the Orion qsk menu turned to 80%, so it is very slow. I do not like
the clacking and I have my amps all keyed with the ptt, so they are turned
on for the duration. And all three of those amps are qsk capable.

Many many years ago I handled a bit of traffic and was ncs several nights a
week. I needed, wanted and demanded qsk. I had the perfect qsk...a
separate rx/tx and separate rx antenna. One just turned down the rf gain a
bit so the rx was not overloaded. I still have that set up available....it
is called a Johnson Valiant and the Orion receiver. terrific combo! Orion
is far superior to the old 2B I used when handling tfc. Different
strokes. 73 bob de w9ge
