I will second that. Lot of injector noise on HF in my 2002 Duramax.

You got that right about the ignition noise. My present pickup truck is a
2003 GMC DuraMax Diesel. This truck exhibits the worst "ignition" noise I
have ever experienced. Worse yet is the fact that no one I have talked to
has found a cure for the problem. Both the Ford PowerStroke and GMC DuraMax
diesels have the same problem with the common rail injection system. The
injector solenoids are actually frequency and pulse width modulated to
control the frequency and duration of the injected fuel charge. On the plus
side great fuel economy and throttle response very similar to a gas engine
and gobs of pulling power. If you are going to get one of these beasts you
had better get the rig with the best DSP noise blanker and DSP noise
suppression system available. The people exhibiting GMC products at Dayton
when asked about this problem said "So?"

Your comment is not always correct. Many modern high pressure diesel
injections systems are using high voltage solenoids to control the
injectors. These systems can have noise problems that are just as bad as
ignition systems. What you reported is always true with the old style
mechanical injectors.

Check for the injection type before you buy a diesel.
