[TenTec] Giehl Chip Versions

Jerry,
My "understanding" of Jack Giehl's chip is that the version he provided
to a Paragon owner was directly related to the TT ROM version as
delivered from the factory. My early Paragon had a 3.8 version and this
was replaced with a Giehl 3.1. My later Paragon came with the TT 4.0
ROM and this was replaced with a Giehl 6.1 version.
As I am not a CW buff, I really can't address the CW/QSK timing
issues...Never really cared!!!
I also never "broke the code" on date of manufacture, so I'm no help
there.
I will say that the Giehl chip as installed in the Paragon is (IMHO)
much more efficient relative to tuning rates/memory storage/display
settings/Voice board operation as compared to the original TT ROM and
again (IMHO) will run circles around the Paragon II ROM, which I
personally feel was produced by TT as an answer to Jack Giehl's HARD
work on the Paragon software.
