Hi Kip,

I've owned an Argosy I (non-digital) since 1981 or '82. Several other radio
have passed through or into my shack since then, but the Argosy would be the
last one I'd sell. Mine is configured much like the one you describe. The QSK
is superb, and the receiver quiet but sensitive. With a Shure 444D
microphone, the radio can hold its own very nicely on SSB. Subjectively, it is one of
the best sounding radios I've ever used or owned

What does it offer over the K-1? Power level to 50 watts max., but true QRP
when you want it. Ability to work SSB as well as CW. Coverage of 80/75 and
10 meters. Excellent front panel ergonomics. No, it's not a backpackers
radio, but there are better backpack radios than the K-1 (such as the KX-1).

I've worked about 270 countries with mine--using only wire antennas and have
a bunch of contest certificates which were earned with it.

I can't imagine you regretting its purchase.
