[TenTec] iCom's approach to the 7800 issues

    Clark:

I guess it all depends on how you view the comments. Is the glass
half full or is it half empty? I really don't find the comments posted on
this board to be very heavy criticisms. No, not at all. I rather find them
a mix of technical comparisons which I find very helpful and
questions/praise/ disbelief that the Icom costs so much more than the Orion
and is not substantially better.

I remember similar comparisons/ comments about the Collins KWM-2 and
S-Line versus the Drake TR-4 and C-Line way back in the 60s-70s. Yes, that
was the same sort of thing because the Collins was so much more expensive
than the Drake. I couldn't afford a Collins, but I did buy a Drake C-Line.
That was some good gear back then.

I think that the discussion is healthy and I enjoy it. Matter of
fact, if the 7800 was materially better than my Orion I would be saving a
few $$$$ to buy one. But, it isn't!

Have a GREAT Holiday Weekend. Now that my pine trees are gone, I'm
going to see if I can get my new SteppIR up in the air.

            73s,

            Bernard, WA4OEJ
