It's a limitation of hardware - there would be some serious isolation issues
involved with allowing one receiver to be open while transmitting at 100
watts on another band with the same piece of equipment.  We did some
investigating of this early on in the Orion development (because as an
SO2R op myself, I really would have liked this).  It was soon obvious
that the engineering challenge plus the hardware involved was going to
be too much effort and cost added to the rig to do it.  We did leave on all
the other "SO2R style" acoutrements like the second amp keying line, etc.,
but the muting of the opposite receiver while transmitting is not the usual
modus operandi for the SO2R operator.   The point of SO2R is to be doing
something productive while calling CQ rather than listening to your own
CQ's all weekend.

Solution:  two Orion's.
