I always like to hear about how hams prefer performance over looks I wonder
if they buy other large ticket items the same way , a house , car etc.  I
believe a large ticket item should have all of the sophistication  that is
common to the market  . Can you imagine going into a car dealership and
paying 30,000 for a fast car that gets 30 miles to the gallon and has only a
flat black paint job  roll up windows and of course no air ?  I don't think
