Here is a real-world example.  The Orion does not have a relay that mutes
the
mic when a sound card dvk message is sent via the aux input.  However, I was
able to set the mic level to 0 prior to sending the message, and back
to it's original level after the message was sent.  (There is a command to
read the mic level.)

Bottom line?  No mods to the radio and $85 in my pocket when I sold my
rigblaster to another ham.
