Through my commercial contacts, I have established that the price point will compare favorably with the Orion. However as an innovative marketing approach, Icom is offering a $1,000 owner loyalty rebate to current Icom owners. As an incentive to "cross over customers" a $2000 "welcome" rebate will be awarded to current TenTec users. After all $$$ that's what it's about. The most amazing part of the rebate scenero is even "swap out"provision for current Orion owners. gee, I wonder what those technical types in the Far East will do with all those new TenTecs... There has been some discussion on the 7800 group at Yahoo that Icom is "looking" at how best to do it.It is unclear, but if it's not in the initial release, then it may be necessary for early adopters to ship the radio off to get the feature -- can't download the download update until you can download .. so to speak.Grant/NQ5T> yes you can update the software, look on the back there is a rj45; and> in the operator's manual, which is on the web, they talk about the ip> address.> > AND THAT AD ...
