230 maybe 240 foot loop here, horizontal, 25 feet high, and rectangular in
shape.
short sides are around 40 feet long; long sides are around 80 feet long.
Feeding it in the middle of one long side. Feed is 600 ohm open wire
feedline which is about 40 feet long. It terminates just inside a basement
window (it passes through one plexiglass pane) at my balanced transmatch
which is a pair of 30 microH rollers and a 1000 pF vac. variable. the Ls
are in-line on a single threaded rotating shaft and move back and forth--the
taps are fixed. There is a 1:1 balun on the tx side of the transmatch.
don't make it more complicated than it has to be. Just put up as much wire
as possible, as high as possible, don't let any one side get so short that
the loop collapses into a folded dipole, feed it at any point convenient
with open wire feedline and with a balanced transmatch, it will take care of
any problems with wire and feedline length etc.
73,

>>>>Getting back to loops, with apologies for the TT list
hijacking, I wonder
how and where you are all feeding / did feed your loops?
Co-ax, balanced feeder, impedance of feeder, location of
feedpoint?
Need for balun / RF choke etc?
Shape of loop?
Any good web sites or references? ( I have read lots of LB Cebik
W4RNL's
material )
Should you wish to mail off list to spare peoples' inboxes, a
valid email
address for me is
gw7lhiAThotmail.com obviously, replace AT with @ OK!
An interesting discussion, even if not strictly TT oriented.
