Your statement was capture area ... so why doesn't the 20m
dipole work twice as well on 10m?  <even if matched?>

There's reasons why I don't use my 80m 4x array on 40m, despite
it having more 'capture area' than my 40m antenna ... even if I run it
through a matching network ... or my 160m vertical on 40m ...

Physics is not being debated ... proper application of physics is!

That's why my caution as to many of the 'absolutes' being posted,
look carefully at the details of each of the 80m loop setups, and
you will find some 'clues' as to why some perform different than
others ... grounds, feedpoint location, terrain, and so forth.

BTW, I DO agree that W8JK text is an excellent reference book!  I used 
to read it at the local university when I was a teenager here while my 
father was doing his research for his Masters in Aerospace. That was 
some 30+ years ago now ... wow, the time does goes by quickly.

Kraus's book is one of the "timeless" standards to consult ...
