[TenTec] Corsair II warble

Well of course AFC does not stop drift on a xmtr. But if AFC works, the rcvr
will lock onto the incoming signal. A frequency stability of better than
10Hz is really asking a lot from amateur radio gear of any kind and thats
why good PSK programs have the AFC function.

I think the 'dire warning' about cleaning switch contacts is meant to get
across the point that one should not use typical 'TV tuner' spray to clean
the contacts. I also believe Ten Tec recommends a cleaner/lubricant that
they use themselves.

Good luck.

Tom,

Thanks for your comments...

There's no crystal for the worst band, 14.000 MHz!

I'll have a look at the band switch contacts. The Corsair manual has a dire
warning in it about cleaning the bandswitch contacts - something to do with
the lube they used on assembly.

And yes, the AFC does handle the drift, but:

a) on some data modes on MixW the AFC button is greyed out, ie MFSK, which
is the most difficult to tune

b) AFC doesn't stop warble on transmit!
