The XG-1 puts out a 1 uV signal which is -107 dBm.
Orion's noise floor is around -133 dBm, so you need another
26 dB attenuation on the XG-1 output to get close to its
noise floor.
For those learning to use Orion, I highly suggest the
following website which is much better than what is in the
new Orion manual, especially with regard to setting the AGC
properly for weak signals (pages 3-4).
