BUT: the DSP works so well that you can set it and forget it. Also, it is so versatile that

understands how to use it simply chooses the appropriate settings and they don't need

On Field Day, a good operator needs only a few controls -- the tuning knob, the crystal 
filter switch, RIT, gain controls, and maybe the speed key for the keyer.  And, of course, 
he/she needs to know how to change bands and load the antennas (which ought to be 
resonant). All of these are VERY simple on the K2, just as they are on the Omni series. 
Anything else that he/she is trying to change probably shouldn't be changed if it was set 
up correctly to begin with! 

One other point. A study of ARRL test reports on receiver performance and transmitter 
cleanliness will quickly reveal that the Jupiter is simply NOT in the same class with the 
Omni V and later radios.  Neither is the 746 or 746 Pro.
