Gary,
I'm glad to hear that you have had good luck over the years with Ten Tec
service. I have not had a chance to deal with Don or Glenda, but I have
twice gotten real "non answers" to questions from the service manager, Paul
Clinton. First time it was a question about a used Omni V I got, about
drifting, and only got a lesson on the specs of the Omni V, which are
clearly readable in the operating manual. Second was a question on my Orion
(bought as a demo from Ten Tec recently, so under full warranty) as to what
would need to be done for the version 2.0 software that is coming out to
work. I intended to have the front panel down for the Heil "grounding mod"
and thought I could make those changes while there on the CPU/DSP board, and
got the answer "version 2.0 is not available yet". I protested to sales,
and FINALLY got a civil answer, but hope that is not the norm with my "new"
rig. That's one reason an Icom will never grace my door again, was poor
service! Maybe I rubbed him the wrong way?? Just don't know. I made my
buying decision partially because of reading in the reviews on Eham about
the "great service" but have yet to witness it in my personal dealings.
73,
Don, WB5HAK
